The Last Dance @ Larsen Light Show
“The Last Dance”. There was a buzz in the air when Brian Larsen announced what the theme title would be for this years display at Larsen Christmas Light Show in Elburn. Winning the hit ABC television show The Great Christmas Light Fight had propelled this magical display from a local to national phenomena. And with that fame, came fans! A lot of them! And that was O.K. with creator Brian, who has an amazing love for Christmas and took the opportunity to raise funds for charitable causes his family supports. As word spread and attendance grew, Brian kept the show FREE. At the same time he, his family and an entire support staff worked tirelessly night after night, every night. Season after season, every year… having already spent countless hours programming and to put up this incredible display, to then manage the show traffic. A genius, one way route leading to and away from the display was implemented. He even installed a parking pad! All was right with the world. Or was it? This weekend, those fans that picked up on the show theme for 2020 saw their worst fear realized. It was announced that "the success of this show is also it’s demise". This year will indeed be the last year for Larsen Christmas Light Show.
Brian published a post explaining his decision. Without getting into the why here (and as a MUST if you plan to attend the show) you can read more about it here.. in his own words: https://www.facebook.com/.../a.15388893.../4213442428672923/
My family just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Brian Larsen, his family and team for the years of dedication, love and lights he’s given us! Nothing less than a GIFT. Thank you for giving everyone this notice as well in order we can come and enjoy one last time. Visiting this special display is one of our favorite family traditions. In a word, it has been, EPIC. We will miss it and treasure the memory. THANK YOU LARSEN FAMILY. Many a Merry Christmas to you.
